Learn the language of coffee. As you explore the world of coffee, you'll enjoy flavors and aromas that you've never experienced before. If you want to become a real coffee connoisseur, just familiarize yourself with these terms.
Roasting: Full City Roast: For coffee with a perfect balance of flavor and aroma. Vienna Roast: Slightly darker than a Full City Roast, we use this roast to bring out a little more character in selected coffees. French Roast: Our darkest roast. Marked by a lingering smoky finish and dark chocolate richness. |
Tasting: Body: Terms like full and smooth describe the weight and texture of a coffee. Acidity: The lively, sparkling part of a coffee's flavor. It can be sensed on the tip and sides of the tongue. Flavor: As the term implies, words like chocolate, maple, tobacco, and vanilla describe the rich, unique character of coffee. Aroma/Finish: A characteristic of coffee associated with the brighter, lingering aspects of the taste/smell experience. |
Coffee Definitions: Organic: Coffee that has been certified by a third party agency as having been grown and processed without use of pesticides, herbicide, or chemicals. Fair Trade: Coffee that has been purchased from farmers at a fair price as defined by Trans-Fair, or other international agencies. Because Dunn Bros quality demands are so high, we regularly pay more for our green beans than the Fair Trade set price.
