On the outskirts of San Jose lies the world-renowned coffee-producing region of Tres Ríos (so named because of its location at the convergence of three rivers: Río Tiribí, Río Chiquito and Río Fiero). Tres Rios is known worldwide for producing some of the best coffee in the country, and Costa Rican coffee is famous for its excellent quality and robust flavor. Grown at an altitude of 4,900 to 6,500 feet, Costa Rica La Dama is shade grown in the Central Valley’s rich volcanic soil. With over one hundred inches of rain annually, it’s the perfect environment for the production of a very fine coffee. The beans are harvested during the late fall and early winter, wet processed and then sun dried.

Once the beans arrive in our stores, we roast them to a rich, flavorful Full City or French Roast. In the Full City Roast, this coffee starts with fruit, vanilla, and milk chocolate aromas. There’s a sweet flavor to it and the rich, full body and delicate acidity linger slightly. The whole cup finishes nice and dry. The French Roast delivers a rich and lingering experience with sweetness and spice. A fine acidity adds crispness to the cup with vanilla and fruit in the finish, and just a wisp of smoke. Even French Roasted, this coffee offers the complexity found in lighter roasts.
