COFFEE PROFILE
Full City Roast:
Rich and bright. Plenty of fruit flavor and aroma. Buttery smooth body and crisp, sweet, acidity. The finish is brisk; citrus notes on the high end and chocolate and toffee to fill out the bottom. French Roast:
Bold and expressive. Layers of deeply caramelized sugar, spice and cocoa in both flavor and aroma. The body is rich, heavy and creamy contrasting mellow acidity. Exotic fruit notes linger in the finish.

GEOGRAPHIC PROFILE
Located in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala, ASOBAGRI was founded in 1989 by 20 K’anjob’al Mayan coffee and cardamom farmers. Despite regional political instability and poverty, ASOBAGRI grew steadily throughout the 1990s. The cooperative became certified by Fair Trade Labeling Organizations International (FLO) in 1999. ASOBAGRI has used revenue from Fair Trade sales to: promote literacy, diversify crops and income, support sustainable agriculture, invest in quality control and support health care.

Huehuetenango is the highest coffee region under cultivation, as well as the driest of the three non-volcanic regions. It is also by far the most rugged and remote area in Guatemala, with coffee cultivated in broken and very steep terrain. Thanks to the dry hot winds that blow into the mountains from the Tehuantepec plain in Mexico, the region is protected from frost, allowing coffee to be cultivated up to 6500 feet. Huehue’s extreme remoteness requires that virtually every producer, large or small, individual or farm, process his own coffee. Fortunately, the region has an almost infinite number of rivers and streams, so a mill can be located virtually anywhere.
